Service learning is a new approach to experiential learning in which students participate in projects that combine academic study and philanthropic work and, consequently, benefit both students and communities. This chapter describes and discusses the Bandhwari Women’s Project, an international service learning project that involves students from Florida International University and women from Bandhwari Village in India, who, together, design, manufacture, and sell handicrafts. The chapter concludes that international service learning is a powerful method for advancing global competence.
