As the lighting designer for Summer, 1976, I was responsible for developing the overall visual atmosphere of the production in close collaboration with the director and design team. My work centered on supporting the storytelling by shaping how each scene was revealed, ensuring that the audience’s focus was guided with clarity and intention. This process included translating the vision of the lighting into a practical design approach, preparing technical documentation, and coordinating with production staff for the successful hang, focus, and execution of the lighting plot. Throughout the production, I maintained an active role in rehearsals and technical processes, adjusting and refining the design to balance artistic goals with the realities of performance. My contribution as lighting designer ensured that the production’s visual language was cohesive, supportive of the performers, and aligned with the collaborative spirit of the team.
