abstract

  • AD/HD is a neurocognitive disorder which represents a multifaceted and heterogeneous mix of cognitive, behavioral, and social behaviors. These symptoms often challenge the teaching and learning process for teachers and students. This chapter offers school personnel an overview of this population, common comorbid disorders and conditions, as well as overlapping symptom dimensions associated with AD/HD. To help school personnel guide their classroom practices and student focused interventions, readers are provided a detailed description of new teacher and student progress monitoring tools which are illustrated in a case example.
