Aluminium alloy 5056 base matrix hybrid composite is widely used in marine and aerospace application due to its low density and corrosion resistance properties. The composite is synthesized, by stir casting method, as Al 5056 with constant proportions (3%) of Silicon Carbide and varying percentages (2, 4%) of sugar cane bagasse ash as reinforcement particles. A varying percentage of sugarcane bagasse ash has been studied with and without the addition of Silicon Carbide and its effects were analysed. In this paper, testing of the composite was done so as to assess the mechanical and metallurgical properties. Results showed a significant increase in the wear rate and hardness value of the composites. Usage of industrial agro wastes like bagasse ash as reinforcement not only enhances the properties of the composite but also promotes sustainability through waste disposal.
