abstract

  • The phenol and its derivatives have been identified as widespread pollutants in environment affecting the drinking water or ambient air. In this work, an amperometric screen-printed sensor based on tyrosinase is described and the electrode characteristics were studied. The sensors show an excellent storage and operational stability, a detection limit of 5.10-6 M phenol being achieved. The sensor was tested for the determination of phenols from ambient air samples and the results were compared with the spectrophotometric 4-aminoantipyrine-reference method, currently used in the environmental control laboratory.
