In this work, a novel reconstruction method for diagnosing faulty array elements is presented. Specifically, we demonstrate that by using characteristic mode analysis we can significantly reduce the ill-posed nature of an arbitrarily defined source-reconstruction problem. Our proposed method is validated through the diagnosis of a Yagi-Uda and an elliptical loop array, where suitable reconstructions are obtained.
