In facilitating adult learner growth, educators must recommit to teaching with moral courage in these fraught and uncertain times. Some adult educators say that social justice is not a part of their curriculum, so they cannot connect important foundational values in the classroom. Education is no stranger to cutbacks and cutthroats, and education stakeholders cannot assume that they have some protection from neoliberal forces that are affecting other aspects of society. Adult and continuing education can only grow, prosper, and have meaningful social and economic impacts if its many and varied professional organizations join forces, work to create a unified and overarching identity, develop cohesive and sustained public relations campaigns, and become a strong voice in public policy at the local, regional, and national levels. Colleges and universities are increasingly becoming significant sites for adult education scholarship-in large part due to demographic shifts.
