  • In this study, we analyzed the effect of plasticity on the fatigue crack growth of repaired aluminum plate bonded with composite patch subjected to single overload. Experimental and numerical approaches were used to perform the analysis. In the experimental part, fatigue tests were carried out on a v-notched aluminum plate repaired with a composite patch and subjected to overload. In the numerical part, the extent of the plastic zone at the crack tip of the repaired and unrepaired cracks were computed. The obtained results showed that the effect of overload compared to that of the composite patch led to a remarkable improvement of the fatigue life.
