abstract

  • This chapter examines the purchasing pattern of hotels and guesthouses in Jamaica to ascertain the strength and potential of this linkage since this directly impacts the tourism multiplier effect. The findings revealed that while there appears to be a mutually beneficial relationship between the tourism and the agriculture sectors, there are still some areas for improvement. Strengthening this linkage will lead to increased investment to expand farming activities and develop downstream businesses like agri-processing. This will increase the multiplier impact of tourism; lower leakage ; and increase the productivity and resilience of all industries involved in linkages with the tourism industry.
