abstract

  • This article explores the concept of power and applies it to Black nursing faculty members. Recognizing that although the number of Black Americans teaching in schools of nursing is not proportional to the number in the general population, the authors state that the number entering the teaching field is increasing. With so few in nursing and subsequently in teaching, problems are inherent in the teaching role. The authors address some of these problems and offer suggestions for how Black nursing faculty members can empower themselves.
