abstract

  • The influence of the fixation plates on the ostheosynthesis process of the 41-C1 tibia fracture is analysed in this research, by studying the fracture fragments displacements when a compressive load is applied. A cadaveric tibia and a synthetic tibia were experimentally and numerically compared. Then, two different FEM of fractured tibia were developed: with and without fixation plates, and compression loads were applied to both. Kinematical restrictions were employed to simulate fixation plates. The model with fixation plates behaved like a rigid deformable body, while the model without plates collapses.
