Reducing the size of wideband antennas operating in the Very High Frequency band from 100 to 400 MHz is a great challenge. At 100 MHz, the wavelength size is 3 m and any size reduction makes the integration easier and reduces fabrication costs. The original technique proposed in this communication enables a significant height reduction (up to 50%) of a Magneto-electric crossed dipole (MECD) antenna while maintaining an ultra-wideband operation bandwidth from 92 to 360 MHz (118%). The proposed technique is based on adding frequency reconfigurable concept on a compact antenna. The profile reduction technique and simulated results are presented in this paper.
