abstract

  • Today's Athletes Are Running Faster, Jumping Higher, Throwing Farther, And Lifting Heavier. This Improvement In Performance Is A Testament To The Dedication And Hard Work Of Athletes, Coaches, Athletic Trainers, Strength Coaches, And Others Who Invest So Much Into The Sports Training Process. With A Growing Emphasis On Competition And Winning, There Is An Associated Risk Of Overtraining, Especially With Athletes In High Schools Who Participate In Multiple Sports Or In Back-To-Back Seasons. Playing Multiple Sports Is Not In Itself A Risk; However, Eliminating Or Reducing Recovery Cycles Can Increase An Athlete's Risk Of Overtraining. © National Strength and Conditioning Association.
