abstract

  • Adenosine 3′:5′ cyclic monophosphate (cyclic AMP) was found to increase the rate of incorporation of [3H]uridine into CV-1 cell RNA while no significant differences were found in quantity or quality of total RNA. This increased rate of incorporation of uridine was dependent on the time after cyclic AMP addition and the concentration of cyclic AMP, and did not result from an increase in uridine transport or uridine phosphorylation; cyclic AMP was found to decrease the endogenous synthesis of uridine triphosphate, and this may account for the enhanced incorporation with time into the newly synthesized RNA. © 1974.
