abstract

  • The apparent relationship among coke graphitization, reactivity and fines generation and the efficiency of operations of a blast furnace, were investigated. A comprehensive coke fines index based on the possible influence of coke reactions on fines behavior was also analyzed. The mechanisms of coke fines behavior such as generation and assimilation, once they are formed could have a significant impact on the stability of blast furnace operation and productivity. The specific coke quality requirements vary in each unit operation. The results show that the carbon structure of coke was influenced by carbon structure and minerals such that less-ordered cokes indicated higher reactivity.
