abstract

  • This paper presents a broad bibliographic revision of existing studies on heat transfer in gas-liquid two-phase flow without phase change with the purpose of establishing the basis for further research in the area. Part I of this work (Garcia et al., 2003) discussed research related to horizontal wells whereas this article presents studies performed in vertical pipes and annular ducts. Aspects related to the modeling of physical phenomenon, empirical correlations to evaluate the two-phase coefficient of convective heat transfer, aspects related to the study of specific phenomena and the description of plants used in experimental studies are included. The analysis of the literature indicates the existence of very few works on the study of heat transfer in gas-liquid two-phase flow for the case of high viscosity liquids, and therefore, high Prandtl number liquids. In the case of vertical annular ducts, the publications are even scarcer, thus warranting more research efforts in this area.
