abstract

  • A female spotted seal was trained to discriminate between blue and orange lighted targets. Brightness cues were decoupled from color cues and background light intensity was such that the animal's rods were probably saturated. The performance of the animal indicated that it could reliably distinguish colors. This provides the first evidence implying more than one cone type in the eye of a marine mammal. © 1978.
