Although widely available for less than a decade, prenatal diagnosis of genetic disorders has already achieved a prominent position in obstetrics. The purpose of this article is to describe the techniques used in antenatal diagnosis, review currently accepted indications, and consider additional indications that may prove valid in the near future.
