Research is a central activity in any science pursuit. Forensic science is no different but faces challenges that other sciences do not. The results of research need to be communicated to the scientific community and publication is the traditional route to achieve this. Peer-reviewed journal articles are the main channel for disseminating research results, and these provide the basis for the primary literature in science.
