The construction industry is probably the last frontier of industries that can benefit from the industrial engineering profession. IEs have greatly increased the competitiveness of both manufacturing and service industries, but have contributed far less to the construction industry, primarily because there has not been a major focus on such activity. This roundtable discussion will present ideas from the perspective of several areas of industrial engineering - safety management, environmental issues, automation, lean applications to housing constructability, and value engineering.
