abstract

  • Understanding the effects of any change in the parameters of the various functional components in a wireless multimedia streaming chain is an absolute prerequisite for making good decisions towards efficient and effective end-to-end resource management and control. This paper focuses on the behavior evaluation with respect to processing resource consumption of the decoding functional component in a battery-operated wireless device. CPU cycle accurate measurements are provided along with the first order models, which capture the influence of selected encoding parameters to the decoder's resource consumption. Copyright 2006 ACM.
