abstract

  • The component technologies and structure of modern seismic network infrastructures shall be capable to fulfil many, sometimes contradictory, requirements and realize various trade-offs in achieving target figures of accuracy, reliability, power autonomy, security, real-time response and costs of installation and data storage and communication. This work describes the design and implementation of a low cost, smart embedded professional seismograph, which can be configured to be efficiently and effectively support both, typical seismological and geophysical data collection networks, as well as recent, real-time event detection and response setups for earthquake early warning applications, by exploiting an elaborate combination of established traditional and newest IoT technologies.
