Gullah is the name of the language spoken by the former African slaves and their descendants (also called Gullahs) living along the southeastern U.S. Atlantic coastline from the northern tip of North Carolina to Jacksonville, Florida, especially in the Sea Islands off the coast of South Carolina and Georgia and the bordering mainland areas. © 2006 Elsevier Ltd.
