abstract

  • A polarization-optical stacked integration technique is proposed to construct a compact 2-D cellular automation module with optical weighted interconnections. Using optical thresholding for table lookup, all cellular logic operators can be realized easily by using different threshold levels. The module is assembled by the simple functional building blocks like calcite plates and quartz plates. Finally, it is shown that the module is very simple in configuration and has a high overall efficiency.
