Couples who adopt infants privately face unique problems and issues. Many of these problems are related to the adoptive process. During the adoption process, nurses may be called upon to play some role related to assisting adoptive parents. Nurses can assist these adoptive parents by learning about the process and supporting the couple before and after they receive their infant.
