A 4/spl times/1 microstrip patch array with a ferrite phase shifter was designed and tested experimentally. The ferrite phase shifter was successful in changing the phase length of the array feed lines, facilitating beam scanning via the applied magnetic bias field H/sub 0/. Scan angles as large as /spl plusmn/20/spl deg/ were observed. The array experimental results were then compared with a finite element boundary integral simulation of the array. The simulated data verified the beam steering trends for this ferrite phase shifter configuration.
