abstract

  • This chapter describes the integration of photoacoustic microscopy (PAM) with other optical microscopic imaging modalities to achieve simultaneous multimodal imaging. We first discuss solving the compatibility issue among PAM and other imaging modalities by introducing the laser-scanning optical-resolution PAM. We then discuss the integration of PAM with optical coherence tomography (OCT) and confocal microscopy for providing both optical absorption and optical scattering contrasts. We also discuss improving the lateral resolution of PAM with adaptive optics. Finally, as an important application, we discuss multimodal imaging of the retina.
