abstract

  • With reference to trade with fully industrialized countries, the recent experiences of Brazil, and of other developing nations, is that their relations with industrialized nations show a dangerous strengthening of the bilateral concept. On the financial side, multilateral credit institutions have been incapable of facing the challenge of financing a transition for the international financial system. Concludes that modernization in Brazil has been a result of a long historical process, in which industrialization represented the major mobilizing force. Recent external crises, despite requiring an increasing stabilization effort in comparison with previous years, did not lead to a reversal of the principal objectives of political institutionalization and economic development. -from Authors
