A collection of discussions and papers presented at the Conference on the Brazilian Economy in the 1980s held in Miami, Florida on May 3/4, 1982. It investigated the consequences and options of an international scenario which presaged great disturbances for Brazil. In the volume, several views about the current dilemma of the Brazilian economy and its probable future, solutions, and outcomes are explored. It focuses on the areas of trade and foreign investment in Brazil, examining in particular the various economic policies impinging on them. Some papers are abstracted separately. -from Editors
