abstract

  • A major problem facing today's society is the effective translation of geoscience and engineering knowledge into public policy. This problem is especially severe in the area of earthquake hazard reduction and, more generally, in seismic safety policies. Earth scientists and engineers are increasingly aware of the professional overlap between their respective fields. The next step for those concerned with seismic safety is to begin to understand what might be called 'earthquake politics'. -after Authors
