abstract

  • A research on the developments of supercritical fluid extraction technology in the treatment of contaminated soil is presented. This technology is based on the solvent power of environmentally safe substances such as subcritical water and supercritical carbon dioxide at elevated temperatures. At these conditions non-polar compounds, like organic contaminants, can be easily extracted at high efficiencies. Modifiers which are organic substances can also be used to enhance the solvent properties of the fluids used for extraction purposes.
