This paper presents a numerical study of the thermally developing process in a square cross section duct with combined turbulent forced convection and radiative heat transfer. An algebraic stress model has been employed to predict non-isotropic turbulent flow, as well as heat transfer. Five dimensionless groups have been identified as control parameters. A further study shows that the Reynolds number is a primary important parameter for combined heat transfer. The conduction-radiation parameter, optical thickness and wall emissivity are also the major parameters for this process. However, the effect of the Prandtl number on combined heat exchange can be omitted due to the physical properties of the medium. The predicted results in the absence of radiation are also compared with the available experimental and numerical data published in open literature.
