abstract

  • An experimental investigation was conducted for air-water two-phase flow in the helicoidal pipe. The frictional pressure drop of the air-mapswater two-phase flow in these coils wre measured and the Lockhardt-Martinelli approach was used to analyze the dataa. The results are presented in the form of a pressure drop multiplier versus the Lockhart-Martinelli parameter. From this study, it was determined that the flow patterns are much different from those of the straight pipe, and that the pressure drop cannot be predicted by the Lockhart-Martinelli correlation. Furthermore, it was found that the helix angle of the helicoidal pipe has little effect on the pressure drop.
