abstract

  • This paper investigates numerically the flow and thermal analysis of steady laminar forced convection in the entrance region of the semi-circular duct subjected to constant wall temperature with longitudinal internal fins. The hydrodynamically, fully developed flow and the developing temperature is solved in this paper for nine geometries. The fins are continuous and of zero thickness. The developing temperature field in the semi-circular duct with longitudinal fin is obtained analytically/numerically from solving the energy equation employing The Method of Lines (MOL). The energy equation is reformulated by a system of a first order differential equation controlling the temperature along each line. The paper discusses in detail the proposed methodology where all calculations are based on a coarse grid in the cross-stream direction of the duct.
