abstract

  • Investigation on the effects of the Prandtl numbers and torsion on convective heat transfer in helicoidal pipes were carried out in five uniformly heated helicoidal pipe test sections. The findings indicate that the temperature distributions along the wall are almost parallel to the linear fluid bulk temperatures and all dimensionless peripheral wall temperatures are identical implying that the flow and temperature within the pipes are fully developed after two runs. No effects of the coil pitch or torsion were observed in the range of the present investigation.
