abstract

  • Convective heat transfer for steady laminar flow between two concentric circular pipes with walls heated and/or cooled independently and subjected to parabolic heat generation is presented in analytical closed form utilizing the exact solution of Navier-Stokes and energy equations. Along the length of the annulus, where the flow is hydrodynamically and thermally fully developed, the temperature distribution and the convective heat transfer coefficients are obtained under the stated conditions on the inner and the outer walls. It is seen that parabolic heat generation may have positive as well as negative effect on the Nusselt numbers.
