abstract

  • This study analyzes the effect of internal heat generation on the convective heat transfer characteristics of laminar flow combinations in a circular, multi-passage tube subjected to an external uniform heat-flux. Fluid in each flow section is assumed to have an arbitrary uniform heat generation density. Also both flows are assumed to be hydrodynamically and thermally fully developed. It should be noted that the temperature fields are obtained from the energy equation analytically. Based on the temperature fields, the expressions for the Nusselt numbers corresponding to different heat generation combinations are derived for outside and separating wall surfaces.
