abstract

  • A jet ejector is a simple, safe, and versatile device that contains no moving parts itself. It has been used extensively in refrigeration, stripping, drying, fluid compression and conveyance, vacuum pumping, and fluid mixing. However, a conventional jet ejector usually has a much lower efficiency compared to that of a mechanical pump or compressor. To improve the efficiency of the jet ejector, a novel jet ejector employing a conical porous duct wall is proposed. A CFD analysis for both the conventional and new jet ejectors is conducted with different primary, secondary and discharge pressures. The results indicate that the proposed new jet ejector is feasible, and the strong, direct impact between the primary and secondary fluids and the large eddies normally associated with a conventional ejector can be avoided or reduced in the mixing process. As a result, the performance of the new jet ejector is significantly improved with a significantly higher entrainment ratio under the same working conditions.
