abstract

  • The top two information system dissertations from the 1996 DSI Dissertation Competition are presented. The first, titled `The Role of Semantic Structuring in the Elicitation of Information Requirements', reports the results obtained from a laboratory experiment that investigated the effects of a semantic structuring process of inquiry during the requirements analysis on the overall correctness of the logical representation of relevant data flows. The other, `Effects of Status, Congruency and Network Communication Pattern on Computer-Mediated Group Decision Making', focuses on the interaction of technological and social factors on group collaboration, such as that of restrictive network communication patterns and social factors of status and power.
