  • To the Editor: Fishbane and Starfield's comparison of child health care provided by small samples of pediatricians and general practitioners (September 3 issue)1 demands a few comments. Their data were gathered during 1973 and 1974, almost a decade ago. Family physicians were specifically excluded, and the authors admit that then recently trained primary-care pediatricians were unduly underrepresented. It goes without saying that the large increase in numbers of family physicians since the early 1970s has been one of the major changes in health-care delivery to date.
