abstract

  • A numerical study of double diffusive convection is conducted for a trapezoidal enclosure with aspect ratios of Ar=2. The solutions are obtained by solving the conservation equations of mass, momentum, energy and concentration of heavier species. The boundary-fitted coordinate system is applied in this analysis. The buoyancy forces are approximated by Boussinesq assumption. Prandtl and Lewis numbers of Pr=7 and Le=100, respectively, are used to simulate the double diffusive convection of salt water. The effects of the Marangoni number in the range of 0.105 on the flow and heat and mass transfer are also investigated.
