abstract

  • A study on the ductility of high-strength concrete (HSC) and bond capacity of reinforcing bars embedded in HCS has shown that with appropriate design details and provision, HSC can be used as material for constructing structures in region with high seismic activity. Hopefully, with major research activities being undertaken in many countries, the gap between knowledge on the material aspect of HSC and related design issues will be patched up. The assumption brittleness of HSC based on observed brittle response of HSC should not therefore affect the use of HSC as construction materials.
