abstract

  • Steel pipes with relatively thin wall thickness and filled with high strength concrete have been used in building construction. Some of the advantages of this type of column include eliminating the need for formwork in column construction. In this type of construction,in general, at each floor level heavy steel beams are framed to the column. Often, these connections are required to have behavior similar to rigid connections. Information developed in a previous investigation (1) is used to suggest a tentative design procedure for a connection detail that could be used to connect steel beams to circular composite columns.
