Aldo Salvent is an award-winning saxophonist, composer, arranger, author, and educator.
He holds a Doctoral degree from University of Miami Frost School of Music, a Master’s degree from Florida International University, and a Bachelor’s degree with Summa Cum Laude mention from the National University of Costa Rica. Previously, he also attended the prestigious Amadeo Roldán Music Conservatory in Cuba.
As a saxophonist, Aldo has played and toured in more than 20 countries with a variety of artists including Maria Schneider, Paquito D’ Rivera, Brian Lynch, John Hart, Calixto Oviedo, Ingrid Jensen, Sammy Figueroa, Ken Peplowski, Christine Jensen, Waldo Madera, Chuck Bergeron, Jim Gasior, Jamie Ousley, Gary Keller, Alfredo Chacón and Mike Orta.
In January 2015, Aldo premiered Da Capo his first solo album on Dazzle Recordings, receiving outstanding reviews from “All About Jazz.” In October 2019, his second solo album Ancestros was released.
Besides his own project “Aldo Salvent Quintet,” he also performs as a sideman with the Grammy & Latin Grammy Nominated group PALO!, the Waldo Madera Jazz Quintet, Alfredo Chacón’s Quartet and Brian Lynch’s Spheres of Influences Band.
Aldo is also the author of eight books: 10 Exercises to Master All Major Scales Vol. 1, Tenor Altissimo: 21 Fingerings for Tenor Saxophone, Alto Altissimo: 41 Essential Fingerings for Alto Saxophone, Easy Altissimo: 15 Chromatic Patterns for Saxophone, 10 Exercises to Master All Major Scales Vol. 2, Up an Octave: 10 Advanced Exercises for Saxophone, Horns Up: 10 Dynamic Exercises for Trumpet, and Chromatic Challenge: 10 Creative Exercises for Saxophone which are published and available in Aldo’s website, as well as Amazon Kindle Books, Apple Books and SheetMusicPlus.
Aldo has studied music in the studios of Gary Campbell, Rich Perry, Seamus Blake, Bob Franceschini, Javier Zalba, Carlos Averhoff Sr. and Gary Keller.
Currently, Dr. Aldo Salvent serves as adjunct professor of saxophone at Florida International University School of Music.
