Dr. Maria Olenick is a Tenured Professor and Chair of Undergraduate Nursing at the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
Before joining Florida International University, Dr. Olenick was the Director of Clinical Skills and Simulation at a new allopathic (MD) medical school in Pennsylvania. Her background includes both nursing and medical education and infection control.
In her current position Dr. Olenick is responsible for providing administration and leadership for all undergraduate bachelor of science in nursing programs at both Modesto A. Maidique and Biscayne Bay Campuses, including comprehensive management of all BSN academic programs, curriculum management, program review, accreditation, development, budget, and community relationships in concert with University policy, procedure, and expectations.
Her research and academic expertise focuses on student admission, student services, and clinical education, in addition to ensuring academic policy, procedure and expectations are met by faculty and students.
Since her tenure, Dr. Olenick has received over $2 Million in funding were she has served as PI on multiple research projects including funded grants from the Health Resources and Services Administration.
Dr. Olenick received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Stroudsburg University, her Master of Science in Nursing from State University of New York, and her Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing from Widener University.
She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
