  • Esperanza believes that design has the power to transform lives and improve communities. The key to great design is capturing the spirit of the client and the essence of the spaces while respecting our environment by following the principles of sustainable and universal design.

    She also thinks that education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world. She believes that design and education are a beautiful combination.

    Architecture is not just about building. It’s a means of improving people’s quality of life.

    Esperanza Muiño is a Visiting Professor in the Interior Architecture Design Department at Florida International University. With a strong academic background and extensive professional experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge to her role.

    Originally from Cali Colombia and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, Esperanza pursued her undergraduate studies at the Central University of Venezuela (UCV). She immersed herself in the world of architecture and planning, dedicating six years to honing her skills and developing a deep understanding of the field.

    Passionate about furthering her education and exploring the intricacies of interior architecture, she pursued a Master’s degree at Florida International University (FIU). This advanced program allowed her to delve into the complexities of the discipline, equipping her with a comprehensive understanding of interior architecture principles and practices.

    Before completing her formal education, Esperanza already demonstrated her commitment to her profession by starting her architectural practice while still studying at UCV. Her early projects included collaborations on various housing and private residence designs, small galleries, schools, and planning and environmental initiatives. This early experience enabled her to refine her skills and develop a holistic approach to design.

    During her college years in 1990, Esperanza embarked on a remarkable endeavor. Together with a group of dedicated students, she co-founded “Entre Rayas,” a prestigious magazine focusing on architecture, planning, and interior design. What started as a student initiative has now evolved into a thriving publication, celebrating over 30 years of insightful content and thought-provoking discussions within the industry.

    Throughout her career, Esperanza Muiño has continued to make valuable contributions to the field of interior architecture. Her expertise, combined with her dedication to education, has made her an invaluable asset to the Interior Architecture Design Department at Florida International University. As a Visiting Professor, she imparts her wealth of knowledge and practical experience to inspire and guide the next generation of interior architects.
