Dr. Keith Hechtman is an orthopedic surgeon with a subspecialty in Sports Medicine. He completed his fellowship in 1989 and has been practicing in the Coral Gables area since then. He is a professor and Vice Chair of Education in the Department of Orthopedics at Florida International University. He is a team physician for Florida International University. He also is a clinical educator for athletic trainers and physician assistants of various local universities. He has served in the U.S Army as an orthopedic surgeon and awarded two Commendation medals during Operation Desert Storm. He served as a Olympic team physician in the 1996 Olympics. He is affiliated with Doctor's Hospital and Baptist Health Surgery Center. He's presently employed by Baptist Health Medical Group and is a founder of the UHZ Sports Medicine Institute which trains fellows in Sports Medicine. He specializes in shoulder, elbow, and knee surgery related to Sports Medicine as well as degenerative conditions related to shoulder.
research interests
My research interests involve ligament reconstruction of the shoulder and knee. In addition, the use of Biologics in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries as well as degenerative changes.
