  • Dr. Valerie Diaz is a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Department of Anesthesiology at the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Florida International University.

    Her research focus is best practices to support the veteran student learner which has been published in multiple research journals including the Journal of Multidisciplinary Healthcare, Advances in Medical Education & Practice, American Journal of Nursing, and American Academy of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA) Journal.

    As a clinician, she has held multiple clinical positions for the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Navy Medical Education & Training Command, Jackson Health Systems, Mount Sinai Medical Center, and Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. From 2013-2015 Dr. Diaz was the Assistant Senior Nurse Executive for the Operational health Support Unit of the Jacksonville, FL. US Navy.

    As a nurse educator, Dr. Diaz teaches undergraduate Pathophysiology, Evidence Based Research and Leadership. She is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and Nurse Corps Officer and Training Director in the United States Navy.

    Dr. Diaz is a triple FIU alumni and holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree, Master of Nursing, and Bachelor of Nursing.
