biography

  • Dr. Nathaly Shoua-Desmarais, Assistant Dean Office of Student Affairs and Associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health has been with HWCOM since 2011. She oversees all student support services related to academic success and wellbeing.

    Dr. Shoua-Desmarais is involved with many committees both within FIU and nationally. She has published works on topics related to medical student mental health, professional burnout, and mental health of residents and physicians.

research interests

  • Desmarais’ areas of interest include student and resident well-being and mental health, as well factors that influence academic success in medical school. She is also interested in professional well-being including faculty and staff.
