  • Born in Havana, Cuba, Dr. Joel Collazo is a highly accomplished medical educator with experience in healthcare and academia. He earned his Medical Doctor degree from the University of Havana and began his specialization in Histology in Cuba to later pursue advanced education in the United States, obtaining a Master’s degree in Clinical Biology with a specialization in Laboratory Management from Barry University (2012-2014). In 2023, Dr. Collazo completed his PhD in Public Health with a specialization in Epidemiology at Walden University. His dissertation, "Environmental Factors and Breast Cancer Mortality," was published in ProQuest and represents a significant contribution to understanding environmental impacts on breast cancer outcomes.
    Throughout his career, Dr. Collazo has taught a wide range of subjects at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including anatomy, physiology, microbiology, embryology, epidemiology, histology, pathology, neurosciences, and oral pathology. Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor in the Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) program at Florida International University, where he continues to mentor future healthcare professionals.
    Dr. Collazo’s expertise extends beyond the classroom, with a focus on medical education and wanting to develop his research in epidemiology and epigenetics of breast cancer. His academic journey and professional accomplishments reflect his lifelong dedication to advancing healthcare and fostering the next generation of medical practitioners.
